Everybody Loves Somebody

Loving others is no big deal. We all love, and most of us experience being loved. This is human love; but God asks us to love at a completely different level. Jesus urged His followers to :

“Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?  And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? (Matt. 5:44-47)

We are told to love the way God loves: love those whom our hearts do not cherish. Cherish those whom our hearts find no delight. Love those that we would really rather hate. This is God’s love. Are you capable of this? This is the love that only His children can muster because it is born into us when He makes us His children.
