Refraction (Bent Thinking) #80

Definist Fallacy (circular definition)– involves the confusion between two notions by defining one in terms of the other.  Refutation:  definitions must be clear and objective; circular definitions are neither. Example: Diving Being = a being with godlike qualities.  God = a being with divine qualities. Side Note: a good definition has two parts. The first puts the thing into a category of like things. The second then distinguishes that thing from other things within the category. Example –  a truck is 1) a vehicle and 2) has a bed.
