Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.(I John 2:15-17)
Loving the world and/or the things in the world is a really bad sign. The Apostle John doesn’t say that we should love the world less or love less of the world’s stuff. Neither does he says that we should strive to love God more.
What he is saying is that if you check our your heart and your behavior and therein see a heart and actions that are world-loving, you should check to see if you have the love of God in you.
What does your heart and your actions signify?
