Refraction (Bent Thinking) #86

The Appeal to Common Practice – concluding that an action or behavior is common, therefore the action or behavior is correct, justified, moral, or reasonable. Refutation: “what is” is not necessarily “what should be”. Examples – Adan: “Bailee, in the banking industry, men get paid more than men, so you should not expect a raise so your pay matches Chuck’s.”  Aileen: Butch, the Democrats should keep controlling the Senate because that is the way things are.”
