Stand firm, therefore, having fastened the belt of truth around your waist… Eph. 6:14
You may have never thought of it this way, but Truth helps us walk, helps us get where we are going.
When Paul wrote those words around 60 AD, most folks still wore long loose fitting clothing around the Mediterranean. To aid in walking, especially over difficult terrain, people typically had wide cloth belts with which they could hike up the material above the knees and tie it around their waist. As we walk through life, when we reach tough roads and hard terrain, having a belt of truth makes the passage much easier.
So many people… so many people have lost their way these days and the terrain gets very rocky; and the only real solution is truth… real Honest to God truth. If you walk in truth already, rejoice that you have it, that you know it, and share it for the sake of others who are stumbling.
